We are currently recruiting for a Lead Flexo Operator to join our Production Team! This role will be responsible for setting up and operating the printing press to produce pressure sensitive labels and related products. You will be responsible for providing guidance, direction and technical troubleshooting assistance to press operators on their assigned team.

Responsibilities

  • Provides training as needed or requested to Operator Trainees and Press Operators to facilitate continuous improvement of technical and mechanical skills.
  • Able to operate presses utilizing flexo press technologies with high attention to detail.
  • Provides technical and problem solving expertise to other operators who encounter problems.
  • Assists in the cross training of Press Operators to learn to become proficient operators of presses utilizing press technology which they are not proficient on.
  • Assists in orientation of new employees to Resource Label Group procedures, practices, safety and housekeeping rules.
  • Reads job order and loads dies into press, installs print cylinder on shaft and installs print cylinder in press.
  • Fills ink pans, screens and pumps with prescribed inks.
  • Inserts shaft through core and secures roll on press in feed position.
  • Splices end of roll to stock remaining on press and adjusts tension and feed as directed.
  • Starts press, adjusting speed and alignment of stock to the print cylinder as necessary.
  • Engages print cylinders; adjusts printing impression as necessary, places print cylinders lead-to-lead and runs down approval strip.
  • Cuts sample of approval strip from printed roll, inspects for imperfections such as print to print out of register, print to die out of register, missing impression, ink starvation or color adjustments, making adjustments as necessary.
  • Cleans plates, screens, print cylinders and dies as needed.
  • Performs daily, weekly and monthly maintenance as required. Supervisor must approve all maintenance.
  • Mixes inks to produce and maintain desired colors and viscosity.
  • Keeps work areas clear and organized; maintains housekeeping standards.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • A minimum of two years of relevant experience operating a flexo press
  • Previous lead or supervisory experience preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
  • Ability to read and interpret ruler, scales and other measurement devices.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and frequently is required to walk
