We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced 2nd Shift Finishing Supervisor to lead our commitment to operational efficiency and excellence at Pamco Label in Des Plaines, IL. The ideal candidate will oversee all aspects of the finishing department within a label manufacturing environment, ensuring efficient production flow, high-quality standards, and on-time order completion. This role requires strong leadership, a commitment to safety, and a hands-on approach to managing a team that may include machine operators, cutters, rewinders, and packers.

 

The Finishing Supervisor will collaborate closely with other department leads, including Production, Shipping, and Quality Control, to maintain seamless communication and workflow across shifts. This individual will be responsible for training and developing team members, monitoring performance metrics, troubleshooting issues in real-time, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives. A strong understanding of finishing equipment, label industry standards, and lean manufacturing practices will be key to driving productivity while upholding Pamco Label standards of quality and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily finishing operations, including slitting, rewinding, die-cutting, inspection, and packaging of labels.
  • Schedule workloads, prioritize jobs, and assign tasks to ensure timely completion and on-time delivery.
  • Ensure team compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and quality standards.
  • Monitor equipment performance and coordinate preventive maintenance or repairs as needed.
  • Train and mentor finishing staff, providing ongoing performance feedback, and conducting performance reviews.
  • Work closely with quality control and production planning teams to identify and correct issues.
  • Manage raw material usage and minimize waste while ensuring finished goods meet customer specifications.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) including production output, scrap rates, and downtime.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of production activities and quality inspections.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to streamline operations and reduce costs.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training is a plus.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in label manufacturing or print finishing; prior supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of finishing processes, including slitting, rewinding, die cutting, and packaging.
  • Familiarity with quality standards and safety protocols.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Proficiency in using ERP systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime and weekends when required.
