We are seeking a Lean Engineer to join our corporate quality team. This role is responsible for driving continuous improvement initiatives within a commercial manufacturing environment specializing in custom label production for consumer products. Quality Lean Engineering focuses on identifying inefficiencies, implementing lean methodologies, and fostering collaboration between cross-functional teams to optimize production processes. This position will work closely with operations, quality, and site manufacturing teams to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve overall business performance. 

 

Travel may be required and will vary as determined by the needs and location of assigned projects. We are targeting individuals ideally located in Salt Lake City, UT, Franklin, TN, and/or Chicago, IL.

 

Responsibilities

  • Analyze production processes to identify areas of waste or inefficiency and implement lean solutions that align with industry best practices.  
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate lean manufacturing methodologies that enhance efficiency and process flow. 
  • Facilitate communication between manufacturing and quality teams to ensure alignment on process improvements and quality initiatives 
  • Lead and program manage local site teams in executing process improvement projects, ensuring timely and effective implementation 
  • Develop and update standard work instructions to support consistent and optimized operations 
  • Build strong relationships with manufacturing team members by providing leadership in engagement and quality-driven initiatives. 
  • Design and deliver end-user training on process changes, ensuring smooth adoption and compliance 
  • Lead and facilitate Kaizen events and continuous improvement projects to drive operational excellence. 
  • Conduct root cause analysis to identify, resolve, and prevent production inefficiencies and quality issues 
  • Assist in the development and execution of quality control measures to maintain high manufacturing standards 
  • Participate in regular project meetings, providing updates on progress, risk assessments, and mitigation plans. 
  • Create and maintain documentation, including process maps, standard operating procedures, and training materials. 
  • Work directly with end users to ensure process consistency and alignment across sites. 
  • Support quality assurance (QA) testing as part of change control initiatives, verifying process and system functionality prior to rollout. 
  • Ensure data accuracy and workflow integrity before the implementation of process changes. 
  • Stay current on lean manufacturing advancements, industry best practices, and emerging technologies to drive continuous improvement. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field 
  • 3+ years of experience in lean manufacturing, process improvement, or quality engineering environment.  
  • Strong knowledge of Lean Six Sigma principles, process optimization, and waste reduction methodologies. 
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and facilitate Kaizen or other continuous improvement events. 
  • Experience in process documentation, standard work creation, and training program development. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making. 
  • Collaborative team player with excellent organizational, communication, written and problem-solving skills. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with efi-Radius or Label Traxx is a plus. 
  • Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher) preferred. 
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to work in cross functional, cross cultural, and geographically dispersed teams. 
  • Ability to work independently and manage tasks and projects assigned to meet deadlines.
