We currently have an exciting opportunity for a new Buyer to join our team! The Buyer's role is to ensure timely delivery of required materials and ensure inventory accuracy by performing the following duties.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; Develops alternative solutions; Works well in group problem solving situations.
- Understands business implications of decisions; Displays orientation to profitability; Demonstrates knowledge of market and competition; Aligns work with strategic goals.
- Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; Looks for ways to improve and promote quality; Applies feedback to improve performance.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.
Responsibilities:
- Requisitions supplies, materials, ink, tooling for production and office needs.
- Allocates material for customer orders from in-house stock.
- Ensures in-house stock is allocated using the first-in, first-out (FIFO) method.
- Confers with vendor to obtain product and availability information.
- Reviews PO status daily to ensure due dates are correct and showing as “on-time.”
- Maintains material levels for large customer accounts.
- Works with Customer Service to search for alternative materials if quoted materials are not readily available.
- Works with Receiving when PO discrepancies occur or when returns are needed.
- Supplier audits/works with QA on vendor issues.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is preferred; or Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or 2 years or more equivalent related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- APICS CPIM certification.
- Experience working in a buying capacity in a manufacturing environment desired; Experience in a printing, packaging or folding carton industry is a huge plus!
