Overview

We are currently recruiting an Esko and Colour Management Workflow Lead to join our Toronto team!

 

This Workflow Lead role will be instrumental in driving efficiency and quality within the RLGC Prepress department. Working alongside the Prepress Team, this hands-on role demands a mix of advanced technical skills, and a comprehensive understanding of the printing process to ensure that the Art Dept. supplies quality and error free work to both our internal and external customer base. This role is a vital part of the prepress department focusing continuous improvement in many Prepress initiatives. The purpose of this job is to lead RLG Canada’s Esko and colour management initiatives. This will include technical support and ensuring accurate and continuous advancements for the operation of workflows in the Prepress department within Esko, GMG/Esko Colour management, and other software’s.

Responsibilities

  • Technical Expertise: Maintain, support and improve technical advancements in the Art Dept. including Esko, GMG/Esko Colour Management, prepress software’s, plus any other further technology advancements required.
  • Quality Control: Continually participate in the RLGC quality assurance program within the Art Process and any associated processes. This involves participating in detailed inspections, ensuring adherence to print specifications, as well as both troubleshooting and resolving issues.
  • Workflow Optimization: Participate in streamlining departmental processes to maximize efficiency. This involves analyzing current workflows, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing improvements.
  • Continuous Improvement: Regularly contribute and participate in RLGC’s continuous improvement program and actively participate in all new policies and procedures within the dept. This may include documenting standard procedures within the RLGC Art Dept. Regularly participation in the Art Dept. KPI program. As well as making regular advancements in RLGC’s Esko & GMG/Esko Colour Management program. (ie: Profiling, employee training, workflows, etc...), ensuring that RLGC excels in Esko and colour excellence and the most progressive and reliable Prepress support.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Oversee all Art Dept. Computers, Software’s, Printers, etc. are maintained to the highest standards, scheduling regular service checks and managing repairs as needed.
  • Safety and Compliance: Uphold all safety protocols and environmental regulations under Occupational Health Safety Act (OHSA) of Ontario. Conduct regular training sessions on safety practices and ensure the team complies with industry standards.
  • Interdepartmental Collaboration: Work collaboratively with Customers, Sales, Customer Service, Production Planning, Scheduling and Production, sharing information on project timelines, and material requirements.
  • Training: Participate in regular and required graphics artist’s employee training, as required.
  • Special Projects: Provide support to any special Projects may be requested and assigned by the Prepress Manager, as required.

Performance Expectations: 

The Workflow Lead is pivotal in ensuring continual improvements and technical advancements within the RLGC Art Dept. Ensuring dept. operates at peak efficiency, producing high-quality output that meets client expectations and contributes significantly to the company's overall success within Esko, GMG/Esko Colour Management, and other software’s.

• Work environment may include loud noise in the Production facility.

• Capable of working in high-pressure situations while remaining calm and professional.

Qualifications

  • Educational Background: A degree or diploma in Graphics, Printing Technology, or a related field is required.
  • Experience: At least five years in the print industry and experience in a supervisory role would be an asset.
  • An in-depth understanding of various printing processes, and strong proficiency in software related to Prepress.
  • Must have an advanced understanding and use Esko software (ver.22+)
  • An advanced knowledge in colour theory and management is a must. Experience with GMG/Esko color management software would be an asset.
  • Must understand and have experience in Flexo, Digital & Hybrid printing.
  • Must have advanced skills working in a Mac platform using the Adobe Creative Suite (Specializing in Illustrator and Photoshop software + additional creative suite softwares), ArtPro.
  • Knowledge with EFI Radius ERP would be an asset.
  • Effective communication skills to understand and drive all of RLGC’s Esko and colour initiatives and request assistance from other Prepress team members and Prepress Manager.
  • Intermediate working knowledge of MS Word, Excel or similar documentation software for some special projects.
  • Mathematical (measurement) skills are a must.
  • Analytical ability and creative problem solving / troubleshooting skills are required.
  • Workflow and Process Improvement considered as asset.
  • Health and Safety must be an everyday mindset.
  • Flexibility to work weekends as per business needs.
