We are currently recruiting for an experienced Pre-Press Graphic Artist.
Accurately produces graphic art and layouts consistent with the directions and specifications supplied by the customer.
Participates in Prepress activities: the process of preparing digital art for printing. Activities include, but are not limited to, creating separations, remapping of colors to proper separations, trapping, overprinting, knock-outs, imposition, bleeding Create print signatures for book layouts, box die line, layouts and/or color correction, which require making independent decisions regarding line screen and compensation curves using given parameters.
Utilizing knowledge and understanding of the pre-press and printing capabilities of RLG equipment, determines style, technique and medium best suited to produce desired effects and conform with reproduction requirements or receives specific instructions regarding these variables.
Works closely with pre-press and press department personnel to ensure that graphic designs can be produced on existing equipment.
Formulates concept and renders graphic designs and prepress using Mac-based graphics applications including Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photo Shop, Quark XPress, Adobe InDesign, ArtPro+, Esko, Automation Engine, ArtiosCAD, Studio, DeskPack
Discusses graphics at various stages of completion and makes changes as necessary to ensure designs meet customer requirements and approval.
Develops Proofs by preparing a preview of art for the customer illustrating how the final art product will appear. This process may include resizing of art to fit available dies, re-layout of existing art to fit complex constructions such as booklets or smooth-peel, corrections or adjustments to existing art from customer direction or the generation of UPC codes.
Completes Preflight activities by reviewing digital files to insure the print readiness of the file. These activities include, but are not limited to, insuring proper size, proper amount of color correction, required font(s) and insuring that there is no missing information, that the art matches the work order and that the final product meets a list of minimum specifications for printing.
Studies layouts, sketches of proposed graphics and related materials to become familiar with assignment.
Designs graphic materials utilizing a process of creating unique packaging where only a limited amount of direction is available. The creative process includes designing print-ready art for customer or internal RLG use from limited direction and requires the development of ideas for images and text that, when combined, creates the desired finished product
Designs graphic material and lettering to be used for title, background, screen advertising, commercial logo and other visual layouts for use in producing printed labels.
Selects type, draws lettering, lays out material, or performs related duties.
Keeps work areas clear and organized; maintains housekeeping standards.
